Why Tennis Under The Lights?

"The inaugural Tennis Under the Lights was part of the 2019 Arthur Ashe Boulevard renaming celebration when we brought the RVA community out to play tennis in one place, for one night of tennis, fun and family.

Arthur Ashe Jr. is one of Richmond's true heroes. His tennis fame is unmatched across the world as a champion on and off the courts, using his voice to fight for equity and social justice. We celebrate, as a community, Arthur's ability to use his successes in tennis as a platform for the advancement of civil and human rights.

Proceeds from Tennis Under the Lights will benefit junior and adult tennis development in Richmond through the non-profit organizations of Richmond Tennis Association (RTA) and Metro Richmond Tennis Club (MRTC).
