Tennis Everyone™
Transforming Byrd Park Tennis Courts on Arthur Ashe Boulevard into a Year-Round, Public & Equal Access Indoor and Outdoor Tennis Center for all Richmonders.
The Vision
Players of all skill levels and abilities in Richmond should have access to a year-round center that creates pathways to a lifetime of personal and community benefits.
The Site
The proposed facility will incorporate the existing Byrd Park Tennis Courts and a new indoor facility, along with additional amenities that will be built on the land behind Lois Harrison-Jones Elementary, which is owned by Richmond Public Schools and the City of Richmond. The Second Serve Foundation, along with its partners, will raise the necessary funds to construct the Class A tennis facility. This project will be developed as a public-private partnership.
The City will continue to maintain the current outdoor Byrd Park Tennis Courts and will upgrade their bathrooms to be ADA accessible. Additionally, improvements will include Class A landscaping, new sidewalks, lighting, and parking facilities.
